Mother’s Day Surprise Church Announcement!
As we gather as the bride, and body of Christ, here at church today we would like to honour the mother’s in our congregation by doing things a little differently this Sunday.
We would like to begin with a time of open worship where women lead the corporate worship and praise. That’s right, if the Mums could not keep mum today but rather share anything the Spirit has laid on their hearts – I’m sure it will edifying and be an encouragement to all present, please don’t hold back.
Now, if men could remain silent during the service this would be greatly appreciated.
Today it is not permitted for men to speak out during church or to teach or have authority over the women.
Instead one of our women who has been faithfully associated with us for over forty years and a mature believer, who has diligently studied the word and been a missionary for twenty years in the Amazon Rainforest where she brought the gospel to eight tribes, will share from the Book of Genesis giving what she believes is a truer and more consistent take on what actually happened in the garden of Eden.
If at any time during the sermon or corporate worship a man has a question or a prayer or song request he is welcome to write it on a piece of paper and hand it to his wife to read aloud or to one of the elder’s wives who as we have recently discovered are not only literate but have all attained degrees from Bible colleges.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please humor us in this, remembering this is just for one day of the year. Things will resume as normal next Sunday.
Just a little scenario I put together while reflecting on the special church activities done for Mother’s Day. Some of what is written has been gleaned from true experiences and Statements of Faith found on Church websites.
