Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:3

It seems for a while now that I’m always late, not quite up with the play, one step behind so to speak. Yesterday for example, September 19, 2016 was a good day to write a post, as it was ‘Suffrage’ day – the day to remember and celebrate when New Zealand women gained the right to vote in 1893! This is celebrated all the more here in New Zealand, as we were the first self-governing country in the world to extend this right to all women! Pat on the back for NZ and all other countries who have done likewise, unfortunately voting for women has still some way to go in this world and we need to remember and pray for those whose rights of equality are withheld by their countries tradition and rule.
Yesterday, however, was just one of two days that would have been good to have marked with a post. As it happens Sunday the 18th of September was also Continue reading →
A while ago we watched a documentary about the working environment of a large company in Asia that makes particular parts for electronics. In this specific case employees were expected to do an incredibly menial task 15,000 times in an eight hour shift. The working environment was inhumane not because of dirt or grime or dangerous working conditions, in this work place humanness is stifled and discouraged. All wore white overalls, heads covered only eyes showing, gloves too, creating a barrier for the sake of cleanliness. “No talking!” They were repeatedly told they must be quiet and focus. They were reduced to almost non active robots in a sterile unnatural environment. It made me think surely this is not how God intended us to live? We who are made in God’s image – made to move, and speak and think and be creative. These people need to be set free to be allowed to be human again! Sadly, this was seen by many as a desirable occupation. Continue reading →
As we remember Yom Ha Shoah -The Holocaust Memorial Day, it is easy to imagine brutal Nazi’s in their uniforms with their cold hard stares. But Dietrich’s quote reveals the true reality of what led to this most tragic episode of our blood drenched history. All humanity who knew something of what was unfolding in Europe had a responsibility to speak or act on behalf of those whose freedom and life were being stolen away; responsible to choose to stand on the side of justice and humanity and be ambassadors for the Creator of life. ‘When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate…’
The woman knows –by seeing – that the fruit can be touched without any harm to her –and that it is good for food. She also sees that it a ‘delight to the eyes’ –similar words as used in Genesis 2:9 to describe the trees made by YeHoWaH Elohim –‘pleasing to the sight/in appearance and good for food’. Again evidence confirmed by her natural eyes – the serpent thus strengthening her reasoning by way of the flesh. Two counts in favour of the serpent’s lie concerning God’s intention for them. Two things she has (so far) learnt by experience with her eyes of flesh. The serpent was right on both counts, then comes the third: fully aware of her design as an ‘ezer kenegedo’ the serpent dangles what appears to be a legitimate ‘good’ before her eyes of understanding: Continue reading →
Isaiah gives an interesting and relevant description that speaks clearly, I think, of Adam in Genesis. ‘… YeHoWaH will cut off from Israel both head and tail, … the elders and dignitaries (honorable men) are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail. Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray (swallowed up/engulfed).’ Isaiah 9:14-16Continue reading →
We need to understand what Eve was missing of YeHoWaH Elohim’s command, and what was added, as to why she was so vulnerable to being deceived. Please access the pdf comparison chart here from the last post. My comments will work their way down the chart.
Firstly the command was given to Adam. This may be a possible explanation as to why nothing happened when she ate of the fruit, the consequences only occurring after he himself ate. Scripture does say that she ‘fell into transgression’ but her ‘sinning was not like the transgression of Adam’ –her hand was forced so to speak – being tricked/deceived into breaking the command whereas his was a deliberate action.
