Last night on New Zealand Television, News Hub-Story presenters Heather du Plessis-Allen and Duncan Garner interviewed an Auckland couple. Pakistan immigrant Yasir Mohib and one of his two New Zealand born wives Fatimah Fazilet Sheikh were interviewed concerning his alleged domestic abuse involving the use of a hammer. The reason it became public news is because he was let off without conviction by a district court judge last year, who is currently being investigated because of other similar decisions. The High Court has recently overturned her decision concerning him. Continue reading →
There are many names that we attribute to Yahshua Messiah in the Bible; The Good Shepherd, Lamb of God, The Vine. All of these paint a picture of something wonderful about the character and salvation offered by Messiah. One that I had overlooked till recently is Yahweh’s Strong Arm, sometimes also called Right Arm or Outstretched Arm. Continue reading →
It seems for a while now that I’m always late, not quite up with the play, one step behind so to speak. Yesterday for example, September 19, 2016 was a good day to write a post, as it was ‘Suffrage’ day – the day to remember and celebrate when New Zealand women gained the right to vote in 1893! This is celebrated all the more here in New Zealand, as we were the first self-governing country in the world to extend this right to all women! Pat on the back for NZ and all other countries who have done likewise, unfortunately voting for women has still some way to go in this world and we need to remember and pray for those whose rights of equality are withheld by their countries tradition and rule.
Yesterday, however, was just one of two days that would have been good to have marked with a post. As it happens Sunday the 18th of September was also Continue reading →
I was wondering about this recent perspective that has developed (since the sixties) in the world and has infiltrated the body of Christ as well.
In today’s life we are told that people do horrible things because of low self-esteem -if we can only build someone’s self-esteem, they will be positive and will make the right choices. However, God in His word, says the exact opposite. He says – all of us are sinners (Romans 3: 23), that we love ourselves (Ephesians 5:29) and it doesn’t matter how much we try and change our actions, heart, or our behavior, we can’t. Sometimes we can pretend to ourselves we have changed – but it is not permanent (Romans 7:18-20).
“Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:24)
I was reading Elizabeth Kendall‘s blog this morning and was saddened by how bad it is for Christians in the world. Prophecy is being fulfilled as Yahshua spoke of in Matthew 24:9: “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me”, which is also a good indication of where we are on His timeline.
There are organisations like https://barnabasfund.org/ who works on ground level with the Body of Christ in countries like Syria. They also offer ideas and support how to practically get involved e.g. writing to our governments.
We should all pray and ask God how to get involved and to receive grace to stand with Him and his persecuted body in this last hour.
Just the other day I happened upon a Youtube clip of Nadine Al- Budair – a courageous Muslim woman brave enough to speak the truth. An ezer-kenegedo in action, we want to acknowledge her voice and share it with you. Below is the (translated) transcript of the video clip of her for those who have the time to read, otherwise view the Memri TV Youtube clip here.
